Iraqi Int’l Quran Contest Names Those Qualifying for In-Person Round

IQNA – Those making it to the in-person round of an international Quran competition in Iraq were named.

The Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrine, which has organized the “Ameed International Quran Recitation Award”, announced the names of the qualified contenders.

According to the Astan, more than 2,500 individuals registered to take part in the competition, in whose first round the participants submitted a recorded file of their recitation of the Quran.  

Given the high number of applicants, the deadline for submitting the recitation recitations was extended by the organizing committee.

The contestants in the first round were from 35 Arab, Muslim and other countries.

After the evaluation of the submitted recitations, 31 contestants from 21 countries, including Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Indonesia, Morocco, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Oman, Canada, South Africa, the Philippines, India and Yemen were deemed qualified for the main round.
